The world today is much different than it was fifty years ago, or even ten year ago. New advances in science and technology are continuing to revolutionize life. As a result of this rise of science and technology, there is a corresponding increase in demand of capable employees in these fields. This area, collectively known as STEM, which stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, has seen a great increase in demand. One response to this increase in demand is early and more focused STEM education. This has led to the recent and increasingly large appearance of STEM focused high schools. With this recent push to better prepare the next generation of students to be high achieving in STEM and fill the projected demand, the number of STEM high schools has grown. Along with the current societal setting of a changing transition to adulthood, the questions of what are some measured outcomes of STEM high schools and how do STEM high schools affect the transition to adultho od arise. Stepping back to the factors that have encouraged the growth of STEM high schools, first what STEM is and why it is so important will be explored. When you think about it, that’s a great deal of unborn children that are just â€Å"discarded† or erased, like a sheet of paper containing an awful mistake. An abortion, by definition, is the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of a human embryo or fetus (spontaneously or by induced expulsion). Abortions have been performed for centuries, and surprisingly, are still legal today. Women shouldn’t be given the choice to terminate a pregnancy due to the availability of family planning services, number of families wanting to adopt, and the post effects of the procedure. Rape and incest are two circumstances that are usually considered exceptions to the abortion controversy, regardless of whether an individual is pro-choice or pro-life; but, what about women who are getting abortions for other reasons? Whenever the owner talks to their dog they will tilt their head and seem to have an interest in what they are saying. Having moved from living in the wild to living with humans and their need to be a part of a pack however has not changed. A dog would rarely behave in such a way. Once they have found a friendly owner they tend to stick by their side, rather than constantly keeping an eye open to spot if a better deal comes along. † So therefore, they will always be loyal to their family unit and particularly to their owner. It also seems that both cats and dogs show how loving they can be but do they have other motives? Usually if a cat cuddles up in your lab or rubs up against your leg it’s either because that person is warm or their food bowl is empty. But dogs can sit with someone or wait by the door for hours for their owners to come back home. Dogs do provide more of an unconditional love without any strings attached.
